Daytona injuries put Todd at risk of missing Isle of Man TT

Davey Todd is at risk of missing this year’s Isle of Man TT races after sustaining a fractured leg at last weekend’s Daytona 200.
The 2025 Superbike TT race winner Todd and team-mate Peter Hickman (who also crashed multiple times) travelled to Florida to take part in the historic race on their supersport-spec Triumph machines.
Todd crashed early on in Thursday’s 30-minute qualifying session but was able to return to the pits where his PHR Performance team was able to make quick repairs to the bike before sending him back on track, only to discover when Todd crashed a second time that they had missed something.
“In MotoAmerica, unlike BSB or some other races we do, you can actually get back on the bike," Todd explained on a video posted to his social media on Tuesday.
"So I jumped back on and rode it back to the pit lane for the boys to repair it.
“The boys did the best they could with the repair, and bear in mind we only had a 30-minute session. They fixed it with maybe 10 or 15 minutes to go, and I went back out and spun a couple of laps.
“I was just trying to set a decent enough lap time again because we had some issues in practice.
“Unfortunately something got missed; the steering lock on the bike. It basically wound out and got jammed. Three laps into that second run I did, coming out of Turn 2 in about fourth gear at around 120 to 130mph, the steering jammed and it basically steered me straight into the Armco barrier on the inside of the track.”

Sustaining a broken left femur and right tibia in the crash, Todd (above, right) has undergone multiple surgeries to have nails and pins inserted into the broken bones.
He now faces a race to be fit again in time for the North West 200 in May (where he won three races in 2025) and June’s TT races, where he was planning on defending his crown against 8Ten Racing team-mate Hickman (above, left).
“We’ve got to get healed up hopefully as quick as possible,” he added. “I’ll be doing all I can to get healed up as soon as possible. But I don’t have an ETA on when I’ll be back just yet, we’ve got to go through a few more things first.”
Hickman was lucky to escape unscathed after his own Daytona crashes, before going on to finish the endurance race in 27th place, some seven laps down on race winner Josh Herrin.
He missed last year’s TT after crashing during practice week, leaving Todd as the team’s sole representative.
