By: Zach Catanzareti, Staff Writer

Auto racing has long been a cornerstone of the car collector community. Not only as a space to see the world’s fastest vehicles push the limits of speed and mechanics, but also to give these cars a life past the fast lane.

Hemmings is the world’s largest online collector car marketplace, growing and uplifting the community for more than 70 years.

Their goal, through their marketplace and service, is to assist all willing drivers in buying, selling and living the collector car lifestyle all while bringing enthusiasts together since 1954.

And the aforementioned racecars are certainly a major part of Hemmings’ growing community.

Through their ‘Hemmings Make Offer’, race fans will find numerous iconic vintage cars for sale. Among which is a 1967 replica Mercury Cougar Coupe prepared by legendary Bud Moore Engineering out of Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Moore won two NASCAR Cup championships as an owner in 1962-63 and was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2011. Additionally, he prepared cars for the Trans American Sedan Championship in 1967, where this replica Mercury took the track with Dan Gurney behind the wheel among others.

Jumping way forward in time, Hemmings shows a current-day touch with a Corvette C8.R-005 raced from 2020-2023 and built by Pratt Miller. This unique piece of Corvette history competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2021 and ’22 and won twice in the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship in 2023.

The C8.R chassis is rare, with Pratt Miller having only built six. However, it still dominated the IMSA and WEC divisions, winning 22 races amongst its 50 podiums.
