Isle of Man TT statistics: Win records, lap records and more

The 2026 Isle of Man TT kicks off next week, with practice taking place from May 25-29 - a first week that will feature one practice and six qualifying sessions.

That's followed by six days of racing, which kicks off on May 30 and culminates with the Senior TT on June 6.

The event was first held in 1907 over the Isle of Man St John's Short Course, before moving to the Mountain Course - still in use today - in 1911. With the exception of the duration of both World Wars, the 2001 foot-and-mouth outbreak, and the two years of the COVID pandemic, the event has taken place every year since.

But who have been the big winners historically, and what are the fastest speeds which have been reached around the course?

All-time win records

The Isle of Man TT has hosted hundreds of races since its inception, and celebrated its 100th meeting in 2019.

Michael Dunlop is the most successful rider in the event's history with 33 wins to his name, having broken the record held by his uncle, the late Joey Dunlop, in 2024.

But who else has won big on the island over the years?

All-time lap records

Isle of Man TT statistics: Win records, lap records and more

At the inaugural 1907 Isle of Man Tourist Trophy, Rem Fowler set the fastest lap for twin-cylinder machines at 42.91mph, while Charlie Collier set the fastest single-cylinder lap at 41.81mph.

But bikes have of course become significantly faster since then - with laptimes significantly lower too as a result.

The first 100mph average lap was set by Bob McIntyre during the 1957 Senior TT, before John Williams hit 110mph in 1976.

Steve Hislop set the first 120mph lap in 1989, and the 130mph mark was first breached by John McGuinness in 2007 (pictured above).

The all-time lap record was set by Peter Hickman in the second Superstock race in 2023.

In last year's Isle of Man TT, Dean Harrison set the fastest lap, in the first Superstock TT, with a time of 16m40.999s. He achieved a speed of 135.692 mph.

All-time top speed

Bruce Anstey holds the unofficial top speed record of 206 mph (332 km/h), set during a practice session in 2006 at the end of the Sulby Straight on a 1000cc Suzuki.

However, it is not an official record as it was registered by onboard data-logging equipment rather than through a speed trap.

The official record of 202.3 mph (325.5 km/h) was set by Peter Hickman on his BMW M 1000 RR during the Superbike race in 2023.
