GALLERY: Charlotte Motor Speedway Honors A Family And A NASCAR Legend

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">CONCORD, N.C. – A family. That’s what NASCAR CEO Steve O’Donnell said about everyone who follows the sport from track to track each week, from drivers, to crew members, to staff and media. This week, that family lost one of its most beloved members when Kyle Busch’s bout with pneumonia turned septic, taking the 41-year-old driver, husband, father, son, brother and friend much too soon.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Prior to Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600, Kyle’s wife, Samantha and their children, Brexton and Lennix, along with Kyle’s parents Tom and Gaye and his brother, NASCAR champion Kurt Busch, came to the racetrack, where they were surrounded with love by the family mentioned by O’Donnell. Drivers, crewmembers, members of the media and others all gather at the end of pit road in front of a stylized No. 8 painted in the ballfield of the track. It was a powerful and emotional moment made possible by NASCAR and Charlotte Motor Speedway officials. These images don’t do it justice but I hope it will help everyone remember just how precious and fragile life is.</p>
