Trophies the target as Cataclean Plato Racing heads to Oulton Park

Marking the final stop on the calendar before the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship annual summer break, drivers Dan Rowbottom and Adam Morgan travel to the picturesque Cheshire venue, a happy hunting ground for the duo as they chase glory in their ever-improving Mercedes-AMG A35 Saloons this weekend (6/7 June).

The race-winning pair have plenty to be buoyant about too as the team heads into the weekend having enjoyed its strongest showing of the season last time out at Snetterton, where Rowbottom and Morgan each tallied a hat-trick of points finishes.

Renowned for producing close-quarter action, the 2.26-mile Island layout of Oulton Park is popular amongst fans and drivers alike; not least for Rowbottom as it was there in 2021 that he claimed his first-ever BTCC race win.

Having gone on to establish himself as one of the series’ leading lights since then, the 37-year-old is eager to make his mark and get amongst the podium places as he bids to snare a first trophy of 2026.

At his local circuit, Morgan has also enjoyed some standout moments at Oulton Park, with the Lancastrian scoring one win and five further podiums down the years. Like Rowbottom, he too would dearly like to add to those accolades over the course of the weekend.

Track action will begin on Saturday morning with a 40-minute practice session at 10:30 before both drivers contest Qualifying at 14:00, and the all-new Qualifying Race from 15:05 later that afternoon.

Sunday at Oulton Park will see the battle for top honours with race one scheduled to take place at 12:25, race two at 14:55 and race three at 17:20. All three contests will be broadcast live on ITV4 and ITVX in the UK, the Racer Network in North America and the BTCC YouTube Channel anywhere else in the world.

Jason Plato, Cataclean Plato Racing Team Principal: “I think I speak for everyone when I say that we’re all really looking forward to Oulton Park this weekend. We made a really good step with the car at Snetterton and I feel as though that should put us in good stead going into this one.

“We’re really honing in on the chassis, and Oulton Park is a great place to test just that. If Dan and Adam can hook things up on Saturday, I’d like to think we can be in the mix for some top results on Sunday.”

Dan Rowbottom, #32 Cataclean Plato Racing: “I felt like Snetterton was the real shot in the arm we all needed and since then everyone has been working flat-out back at base to ensure we can come out and hit the ground running this weekend.

“Oulton is probably one of the pivotal circuits we visit for having TOCA Turbo Boost; we’ve got the full allocation available so we have to maximise that, especially on Saturday. It’s going to be as fierce as ever out there but I’m optimistic we can head into the summer break on a high.”

Adam Morgan, #33 Cataclean Plato Racing: “I’m fully focused on getting a podium this weekend. We were in the mix for one at Snetterton but the cards sadly didn’t fall our way; so naturally I’m eager to right that wrong.

“As a circuit, Oulton Park is one of the best that we visit and its somewhere I’ve always enjoyed driving, not least because its not too far from home. Every time we get in this car we’re improving things so I’m excited to see what we can achieve before the real work starts during the break.”
