All three F1 title contenders face post-qualifying stewards investigation

The three Formula 1 title contenders are among several drivers to be investigated after qualifying for a breach that usually results in no further action.

Lando Norris, Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri (twice) were noted by FIA race control as failing to follow the race director's instructions relating to the maximum delta time throughout qualifying.

Verstappen, Piastri, Yuki Tsunoda, Lance Stroll, Nico Hulkenberg, Gabriel Bortoleto, Alex Albon, Carlos Sainz and Kimi Antonelli were noted in Q1.

Then Piastri, Norris and Antonelli were noted again in Q2.

They will be assessed after the session but unless anyone has exceeded the maximum delta time for no justifiable reason, it should result in no action being taken.

Usually, this summons relates to drivers going too slowly on a lap because they have had to move out of the way of a car on a fast lap and therefore slow down to an extreme extent.

However, every potential breach has to be assessed in case someone has committed a real breach.
