Critical but rarely seen parts from the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 ®Team’s MCL36, signed by 2025 Drivers’ World Champion Lando Norris and turned into unique, collectable works of art. 

That's the theme of Principal Partner VELO and McLaren’s latest project together, and they’re offering fans a chance to win some of those collectables for themselves.

The 2022 season’s MCL36 was the first McLaren design of the ground effect rules era; an era in which the team rose to become a double championship winning force. The 2022 car was a building block for the progression from podiums to being in the mix for regular wins, and then ultimately the 2024 and ‘25 Constructors’ Championships and Norris’s drivers’ title last year.

The parts have been displayed at Future Stores as part of The Ultimate McLaren Mastercard Formula 1® Team London Experience and represent the unseen architecture of the MCL36 car – the components buried beneath the bodywork that quietly determine a car’s performance on the track.

Visitors to the London event have already had a chance to enter the competition and to check out another part of the project: ‘The Sound of Speed’, a limited-edition vinyl experience built entirely from the sounds of the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 ® Team. This features everything from mechanics at work in the team garage to engine noise and bursts of emotion from the crowd.

Every Edge Counts

Floor Spate Edge from 2022 McLaren MCL36 Car

• Dimensions: 300x150 mm 

2022 marked one of F1's boldest regulation resets in decades, with ground-effect aerodynamics returning to the sport. 

Under Lando Norris, this titanium Floor Spate Edge was at the very heart of that revolution — millimetres from the asphalt, sculpting the airflow that kept the MCL36 glued to the track. 

A key to performance, but prone to damage, which is why the team decided on titanium over carbon.

The Anchor Within

Fuel System Pump Mounting from 2022 McLaren MCL36 Car

As McLaren climbed back up the table in 2022, every component had to earn its place. Deep within Lando Norris's MCL36, this titanium Fuel System Pump Mounting was an unyielding anchor, securing the engine's lifeblood through extreme G-forces and relentless acceleration.

Fuel System Collector Bung from 2022 McLaren MCL36 Car

In 2022, McLaren's MCL36 fought hard through a fiercely competitive field. At every corner, over every kerb, this aluminium Fuel System Collector Bung ensured a consistent and reliable power supply for Lando Norris.  

This crucial component inside the fuel cell sealed a cavity within the fuel collector, ensuring that no matter what the car was doing, there was always fuel to the engine. 

Cool Under Pressure

Brake Duct Cooling Interface for 2022 McLaren MCL336 Car

The 2022 regulation reset demanded entirely new thinking. In the furious world of F1, braking isn’t just about stopping; it’s about heat management. 

Carbon-carbon brake discs can exceed 1,000°C under heavy braking and keeping them within their precise operating window is critical to performance and safety. The complex internal geometry, only achievable through Direct Metal Laser Sintering, channels cool airflow to critical zones within the brake assembly, preventing thermal degradation and brake fade. 

Precision. Circuit by Circuit.

Suspension Shim from 2022 McLaren MCL36 Car

• Dimensions: 80x60mm

In 2022, as McLaren chased down their rivals, race by race, circuit by circuit, the fine details mattered more than ever. 

This suspension shim acts as a spacer, enabling fine-tuning of the suspension geometry, so it could be tailored to each circuit, giving Norris the precision he needed to push the absolute limit. 

And as well as the MCL36 parts, the project also includes a replica of a unique and very special part of the greatest day of Norris’s career so far:

Replica Front Wing & Nose Assembly MCL39

• Material: Carbon fiber
• Dimensions: 179x179x8 4mm

At the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, VELO created a custom livery for the MCL39. In the ‘Live Your Fandom’ campaign, nine super fans from across the world came to the McLaren Technology Centre to partake in a workshop, highlighting what McLaren fandom meant to them. 

This was then translated into this stunning livery that was applied to the MCL39, the car that Lando Norris drove to win his 2025 Drivers’ World Championship, marking VELO’s place in McLaren’s history.
