KTM unveils 2027 MotoGP factory line-up

KTM has announced Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio as its MotoGP 2027 factory team line-up.

It becomes the fourth factory to formally shore up its works team roster, these deals being announced in quick succession following the signing of the 'Concorde' deal for 2027-31 between MotoGP and its manufacturers.

So both the Marquez deal and the Di Giannantonio deal have been open secrets for a long time; Di Giannantonio's current team VR46 posted a video earlier today of Di Giannantonio saying his goodbyes to the outfit, which was dated May 9 - and Marquez's KTM agreement was thought to have been reached as early as the pre-season.

Marquez, who was runner-up in the standings last year but whose 2026 has been compromised early on by injury in Barcelona, will return to a factory team environment for the first time since his rookie MotoGP season - when he raced for Honda's works team before being moved to its satellite outfit LCR.

KTM's Pit Beirer described him as an "exceptional talent" who "brings not only outstanding skill and race intelligence but also determination and a winning mindset that perfectly matches our DNA".

Both Marquez and Di Giannantonio will have had opportunities to stay with their current teams (Gresini and VR46 respectively) but have been won over by the opportunity of a works seat, which in Di Giannantonio's case appears to have trumped a new Ducati contract to continue in a satellite ride.

The two riders - already team-mates in the past for a single season at Gresini - have been announced on "multi-year" agreements.

"Fabio has clearly made a step to become one of the consistent frontrunning guys in MotoGP," said Beirer.

"We cannot question his speed and commitment to delivering the best performance. He is a strong team player and a good guy, that we know will fit easily into our project."

KTM has been able to use Marquez's likeness in his announcement, but not yet Di Giannantonio's - presumably due to contractual specifics, perhaps due to his status as a Monster Energy athlete for now (with KTM and Marquez being sponsored by Red Bull).

Only Honda now remains without a confirmed two-rider line-up for its factory team for 2027.

It is known it is moving on from both Joan Mir and Luca Marini, but while Fabio Quartararo will definitely take one of the factory bikes, there remains the question of whether his team-mate will be current LCR rider Diogo Moreira or Moto2 graduate David Alonso.
