Bezzecchi suffers 'complete and displaced' collarbone fracture

MotoGP title hopeful Marco Bezzecchi has suffered a significant collarbone injury in his crash during German Grand Prix qualifying at the Sachsenring.
Though it hasn't been officially communicated yet, Bezzecchi will now miss the remainder of the Sachsenring weekend - though any risk of further absences can only be speculated upon, as MotoGP heads into its summer break after the Germany round.
Bezzecchi, who is seven points off championship leader Jorge Martin, was injured in a long-slide-turned-abrupt-highside crash in the downhill Turn 7 at the Sachsenring.
His Aprilia team has now revealed that an X-ray at the circuit's medical centre has found a "complete and displaced" break in his left collarbone.
"Under the supervision of MotoGP medical director Dr. Angel Charte, [Bezzecchi] underwent an X-ray examination which revealed a complete and displaced fracture of the left clavicle," Aprilia wrote.
"The type of fracture requires surgical intervention for optimal recovery and it will be performed by Dr. Giuseppe Porcellini in Italy.
"Marco Bezzecchi is planning to return to Italy as soon as possible. We will keep you updated."
A return to Italy means Bezzecchi will definitely vacate eighth place on the grid for the sprint later today, and the nature of the injury means starting the race on Sunday is likewise an impossibility.
After Sachsenring, MotoGP will return to track action in the British Grand Prix weekend at Silverstone on August 7-9 - before another multi-week break in the lead-up to the Aragon Grand Prix.
