Everything that happened in disrupted second Spa F1 practice

Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli took the top spot in second practice for the 2026 Belgian Formula 1 Grand Prix with Lando Norris second for McLaren and Red Bull's Max Verstappen third.

All of the fastest times were set on soft tyres after a red flag flew for gravel at Stavelot around 20 minutes into the session. A longer stoppage came with 14 minutes left when Alpine's Pierre Gasly hit the barriers on the exit of Turn 13.

Gasly went wide exiting the corner and then slid, hitting the barriers just before Stavelot.

Second-place Norris was 0.190s behind Antonelli while Verstappen, who led FP1, was just under half a second off the leading Mercedes.

Lewis Hamilton was fourth for Ferrari and Isack Hadjar, who faces a grid penalty on Sunday, was fifth for Red Bull. Oscar Piastri was kept in the McLaren garage with a technical issue but emerged after the first red flag to go sixth overall, ahead of surprise top-10 inclusion Franco Colapinto.

Colapinto's Alpine team-mate Gasly finished 18th and 1.8s away, as his team now having to rebuild the car overnight.

George Russell struggled to put a flying lap in and finished eighth. The Racing Bulls pair rounded out the top 10 with Arvid Lindblad around a tenth ahead of team-mate Liam Lawson.

Ferrari's Charles Leclerc was an anonymous 11th ahead of Haas's Ollie Bearman, who was in turn 0.15s ahead of team-mate Esteban Ocon in 14th.

Audi's Gabriel Bortoleto was 13th and just over three tenths ahead of his team-mate Nico Hulkenberg, 17th.

Alex Albon was just over two-tenths ahead of team-mate Carlos Sainz as the Williams finished 15th and 16th.

Also lining up in pairs on the leaderboard were Cadillac - with Valtteri Bottas 19th and four tenths ahead of Sergio Perez - and Aston Martin, whose 21st-placed driver Lance Stroll was just under 0.3s ahead of Fernando Alonso.

The 22 drivers were covered by 5.474 seconds.
