McLaren driver Lando Norris ended Ferrari's run leading Formula 1's Hungarian Grand Prix practice sessions by outpacing Lewis Hamilton by 0.117s for the top spot.

Norris's upgraded MCL40 shipped three tenths to Hamilton in the low-speed final sector, but was potent enough through the rest of the lap to secure the top spot - and deny Ferrari a practice clean sweep after it had headed both Friday sessions.

After a muted Friday, 2026's dominant team Mercedes was back in the game - at least with its championship leader Kimi Antonelli, who was just 0.129s off the pace in third.

The leading trio's team-mates duly filled out the spots between fourth and sixth, with Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) - who headed the field after the runs on the first tyre sets - ahead of Oscar Piastri (McLaren) and George Russell (Mercedes).

After an encouraging Friday, which reaffirmed Russell's confidence that his deployment issues were sorted, he was nearly half a second back from Antonelli - and had a major lock-up at Turn 1.

The Red Bulls struggled to keep up with the other 'big four' teams, with Max Verstappen only seventh and Isack Hadjar three tenths back in eighth, his run on the second set compromised by a Turn 12 error.

The battle for whichever top-10 spots will be available to the midfield appears wholly monopolised by Racing Bulls and Audi, with Liam Lawson coming out narrowly ahead of Nico Hulkenberg in the fight for ninth.

Lawson's Racing Bulls team-mate Arvid Lindblad sat out most of the session due to a precautionary engine change, but two flying laps were enough to lift him into 13th - despite being eight tenths down on Lawson.

It was another gently encouraging performance for the upgraded Aston Martin, 2.454s off the pace and 17th in the hands of Fernando Alonso - and 18th in the hands of Lance Stroll, who rejoined the action after missing much of Friday following a suspension failure.

The Aston Martin B-spec appears a step ahead of Cadillac - which spent the session down to just one car after Sergio Perez's car broke down immediately on his first outlap and his rear brakes caught fire - and of Williams, which was slowest with Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon.
