Aprilia was the dominant power in the 2026 British Grand Prix - but did any of its MotoGP riders separate themselves from their stablemates, or was someone else the 'MVP' of the round?

Here is our take on the performances at Silverstone.

Qualifying: 9th Sprint: 6th Grand Prix: 5th

A casual MotoGP fan could make it through this weekend without noticing Acosta or paying any mind to where he's finishing. And they'd be well within their rights to do so - but I have never based these rankings on 'time on TV' or 'best bike' and I'm not about to start.

The third-year star is the rider of the season so far, and the British GP was another arrow in his quiver, despite a ropey start.

Acosta doesn't count Silverstone among his best tracks, nor was he spotless through the weekend (the two Friday crashes very nearly added up to a Q1 appearance, and things would've been very different).

But he was KTM's top man in every session, this time no less imperious in race pace than one-lap pace, and it amounted to as fine a return of sixth- and fifth-place finishes as you are going to see.

Qualifying: 5th Sprint: 3rd Grand Prix: 3rd

Very possibly wins both races if he's fit - considering he barely had the energy for a proper pole challenge, and looked completely spent at the conclusion of both races.

He lacked power in the shoulder after a "very complicated" collarbone injury and suffered with knee pain after doctors had to treat "a big, big hole" - so any kind of points return from Silverstone is already a bit of a win.

And hanging on for two podiums - which normally would've been the bare minimum here but was clearly an ordeal at such a physical track - just nudges him ahead for me as this weekend's Aprilia standout.

Qualifying: 1st Sprint: 1st Grand Prix: 2nd

Well, this'll do nicely.

Suddenly Martin has a lead of over 30 points, with some really favourable tracks - Red Bull Ring, Mandalika, Phillip Island, Sepang - coming up over the next 10.

Suddenly things look very good, in part also because Martin believes he has (at least part-)cured his issues with front confidence by reverting to a set-up from earlier in the season.

He was stellar in Q2 and the sprint, though made two Abbey mistakes on Sunday - one minor while chasing at Bezzecchi, one a bit more major earlier when he tried too hard to hang on to the lead at the start and failed to brake enough to disengage the rear ride height device.

Those combined to leave him with no chance of taking on Fernandez, but second place was still straightforward to get.

Qualifying: 7th Sprint: 4th Grand Prix: 4th

The younger Marquez lived up to his reputation as a Silverstone expert, in that he clearly had something more than the other Ducati riders - though this only came across in race pace rather than qualifying.

His weekend was hindered by three main moments. One was a lack of improvement on the second run of Q2 (consigning him to seventh on the grid, which he felt was a key disadvantage in his battle against the Aprilias); the second was choosing the soft rear over the medium for the sprint; and finally, a "stupid, unacceptable" mistake at Abbey after having just cleared Bezzecchi.

Clearly, he didn't maximise this weekend. But ranking any other Ducati rider above him feels impossible.

Qualifying: 2nd Sprint: DNF Grand Prix: 1st

Very-very strong, especially once he'd fixed whatever was ailing him in the final sector - more specifically at Stowe - on Friday.

The sprint crash was a disappointment, caused by over-eagerness trying to make up for a poor start - as he was sizing up a move on Bezzecchi but lost the bike.

But he deserves enormous credit for using the Sunday morning warm-up so well in understanding which pace he could push to in the race.

Cal Crutchlow said Fernandez "had more balls than everyone else" in how he approached the grand prix, and it meant he was in total control from the first metres.

Qualifying: 4th Sprint: 5th Grand Prix: 6th

Di Giannantonio should have probably beaten Acosta - who was among a few riders to pick his pocket on the opening lap of the grand prix.

That's the only mark against his weekend, which was strong otherwise, especially in the context of a couple of injuries he's still nursing.

Leading the Ducati camp over one lap - by over three tenths on Friday and by a tenth in Q2 - is a good return, but the races better reflected his true status as second-in-the-group within the Italian brand's ranks at Silverstone.

Qualifying: 11th Sprint: 13th Grand Prix: 12th

Fortunate to be the top Yamaha scorer coming out of the weekend - but also probably its best rider, though certainly not definitively the fastest.

Tucking in behind the Marquez brothers at the end of Friday launched Miller into Q2, which flattered his Yamaha. But he won the 'M1 race' with a well-prepared medium-tyre call on Saturday and with Fabio Quartararo's tyre sensor penalty on Sunday.

Ultimately a good effort.

Qualifying: 13th Sprint: 14th Grand Prix: 16th

Quartararo was probably the fastest Yamaha rider as usual, but others - and by others I specifically mean Miller - were close enough to where his Friday underperformance was actually a significant disadvantage.

His Q1 lap was probably the best action by a Yamaha rider all weekend, and he did his job in the grand prix - though "didn't have fun at all" and got chucked out of the points for a tyre infringement, a wrongly configured sensor that meant no readings from his front tyre.

That's obviously not his fault - and I suspect he would've finished top Yamaha in the sprint had he chosen the medium.

But, save for a delightful Q1 effort, this was no 'alien' performance, just a pretty good job on an outmatched package.

Qualifying: 14th Sprint: 10th Grand Prix: 10th

Moreira's weekends in his rookie season have been in big part conditioned by how successful he is in following someone for one lap. This time, it didn't go great - he ran behind the two KTMs on Friday (bad choice, and also both crashed), then behind Pecco Bagnaia in Q1 (very bad choice).

Both of his races were pretty good given the grid position, and have done nothing to dissuade me from the view that the factory Honda should be his next year.

Qualifying: 15th Sprint: 12th Grand Prix: 9th

A totally unremarkable weekend in an unremarkable season, but one that again underlined why Marini will stay on the grid in 2027 (by virtue of a Tech3 KTM deal).

A yellow flag didn't help on Friday, and navigating Q1 looked very unlikely for him.

And yet again he was dependable in both races, with Sunday a particularly convincing outing as he worked his way through into the top 10, as the top Honda, after a bad start.

Qualifying: 6th Sprint: 9th Grand Prix: 7th

Marquez made just one major mistake all weekend, in confusing a track contamination flag for a yellow flag during Q2 and rolling out of an important lap (this also tripped up Joan Mir).

But that anyway didn't appear to influence his final points tally on the weekend. And alarm bells are ringing. The 22-point loss to Martin, well, it could perhaps be undone at Aragon - but Marquez looked limited to an extent that can't definitively be waved away by Ducati's deficit versus the Aprilia or his own lack of affinity for Silverstone's layout.

The main limitation, he acknowledged after the race, was "myself". And he'd dropped hints all through the weekend that he still is far from being 'right' - and doesn't expect to be right any time soon.

Qualifying: 3rd Sprint: 2nd Grand Prix: DNF

Half a step behind the other Aprilias through the weekend, Ogura made the most of tucking in behind Acosta's KTM - a slower bike - in Q2 and converted that to a handy sprint podium.

But nothing went particularly right on Sunday. He aped Martin's suboptimal approach through the first corner, so had a lowered ride height device of his own to contend with, then just wasn't particularly fast in those early stages.

The Aprilia was surely going to take him back into the top five with ease, but he crashed at Vale - "a bit more [lean] angle with the same amount of brake pressure" - and left invaluable points on the ground.

Qualifying: 18th Sprint: 11th Grand Prix: 8th

Binder says he's been finding a better set-up and better groove with the RC16, and eighth place is a strong result for the way his season has gone so far. The medium-tyre gamble on Saturday was also a positive, even if it yielded no points.

He's also being let down operationally - with technical issues on both of his bikes in Q1, though that Q1 appearance in the first place was at least partly linked to the fact he crashed at Luffield on Friday while chasing a laptime behind Acosta.

But I find it really difficult to look past a 16-second gap to Acosta on Sunday. Binder said he was maybe "a bit too kind" on the rear tyre, but again his team-mate is just operating on a totally different level with this bike.

Qualifying: 8th Sprint: 8th Grand Prix: 11th

Morbidelli's verdict of "overall positive weekend" feels like a fair-ish assessment in relation to the rest of his season - though a final gap of 22 seconds to the best Ducati in the grand prix was fairly excruciating.

He also hadn't endeared himself to likely future Ducati WSBK team-mate Lecuona by divebombing him at Vale and triggering Lecuona's crash - though he had endeared himself to Lecuona by letting the stand-in tuck in behind him in Q1.

Ropey Friday, solid qualifying, solid sprint (outside of the divebomb), really poor grand prix.

Qualifying: 17th Sprint: 16th Grand Prix: DNF

The site of one of his greatest MotoGP moments, Silverstone came and went for Rins this time.

Pace-wise, he was stuck in no man's land between Quartararo/Miller and Razgatlioglu on one-lap, though he was probably more competitive in race pace.

But he was spooked out of running the medium rear in the sprint, which would've worked out better, then was helpless in the grand prix when Joan Mir crashed in front of him and caused him to fall, too.

Qualifying: 12th Sprint: 7th Grand Prix: DNF

I'm tired, boss.

Qualifying: 23rd Sprint: 19th Grand Prix: 15th

Yamaha's 1,000cc work has all but wrapped up and Fernandez confirmed this was his final wildcard of the season ahead of a full pivot to the 850cc bike - starting with three tests between now and Red Bull Ring.

This outing was also a way of keeping him at the level of "a real MotoGP rider", and considering he beat a struggling Toprak Razgatlioglu in the sprint and ran him close in the GP, it's mission accomplished.

Qualifying: 21st Sprint: 18th Grand Prix: 13th

Like Yamaha tester Fernandez above, but even to a greater extent given he hadn't raced the 1,000cc at all this season, Espargaro felt his brain scrambled by the experience of returning to the current-spec bike and the Michelins after all that 850cc Pirelli testing.

He was clearly red-faced about finishing so far back on Sunday, joking with Razgatlioglu that it was "embarrassing" to be fighting so far back and describing his weekend as a "disaster" - albeit with the positive that he avoided any mistakes that could compromise his main 850 work.

He is convinced a follow-up at Aragon would be much more competitive. But this depends on the cloudy situation around Maverick Vinales.

Qualifying: 10th Sprint: DNF Grand Prix: DNF

This by and large had the pace of Lecuona's excellent previous stand-in effort at Balaton, but clearly not the execution.

The Q2 appearance was aided by a tow from Franco Morbidelli, but clearly hadn't come from nowhere.

But he was twice out early in the races due to crashing on the dirty part of the track - once because he was forced there by the Morbidelli divebomb, but the other time all of his own doing.

Qualifying: 19th Sprint: 15th Grand Prix: DNF

An 11th place on Friday - though still a quarter of a second off Q2 - was the high point of a weekend that really got away from Bastianini on Saturday and Sunday.

He said he was unable to perform due to the lack of front contact and stability - "too strange, I cannot ride like this" - and so was way out of the points in the sprint.

He then lost the front at Club trying to clear Lecuona on lap five, and admitted he was riding "too aggressive".

Qualifying: 20th Sprint: DNF Grand Prix: DNF

Johann Zarco's return looms on the horizon, but for now Crutchlow has kept up improving weekend after weekend. Unfortunately, at Silverstone he didn't show it when it counted - not making it to double-digit laps across the two races combined.

The sprint was ruined on the opening lap as he piled into Bastianini's KTM entering the Loop corner, which he felt was bad luck rather than a "mistake", though my hunch from the limited available footage is a different one.

Then the grand prix exit was a Brooklands fall triggered by a misestimation of how the front tyre was after running in the pack.

Full credit for lapping a quarter of a second off Marini in Q1 - that's proper good - but, like with Lecuona, there is only so much shine you can put on a pair of DNFs.

Qualifying: 16th Sprint: 17th Grand Prix: DNF

Bagnaia gets a bit of grace because there's good reason to believe he still isn't quite right after his arm pump surgery, even if he didn't really reference it for most of the weekend.

The results on paper were horrifying even before a "very strange" Luffield crash, losing the front on corner exit, ended his weekend.

But even when he'd stayed on, his performance stood out against the other Ducatis, in a bad way, with even stand-in Lecuona out of reach.

Qualifying: 22nd Sprint: 20th Grand Prix: 14th

Like with the Sachsenring, Razgatlioglu last raced at Silverstone in Red Bull Rookies Cup over a decade ago (he qualified third but finished no higher than ninth that weekend, as Martin won both races).

Maybe it's not a total coincidence, then, that his was another really poor weekend - though it can't be the full explanation either.

With the Woodcote corner a particular headache and tyre management in the long corners proving difficult, Razgatlioglu clearly wasn't fast enough in any session - and will hope that he gets on better with Silverstone when the Pirellis take over from the Michelins.
