If finishing towards the bottom of the 25 full-time drivers wasn’t enough of an emotional punishment in the IndyCar Series, there’s also a heavy financial loss to consider as its tail-end teams are at risk of losing nearly $1.7 million apiece in the entrants’ championship as the season speeds to a close.
