The winners of this year’s Italian Grand Prix will lift a trophy resembling a stack of cups and bowls.

Named FRAGILE, the trophy designed by Italian artist duo vedovamazzei, will be presented to the top three finishers and a representative of the winning constructor following Sunday's race at Monza.

The commission forms part of an annual initiative launched in 2021 where a different Italian artist creates the Italian Grand Prix trophy each season. Previous contributors include Alice Ronchi, Patrick Tuttofuoco, Ruth Beraha, Andrea Sala and Nico Vascellari.

Created by Stella Scala and Simeone Crispino, who work together under the name vedovamazzei, FRAGILE is built around a stack of everyday household objects including cups and small bowls.

“The idea for the trophy stems from the ancient tradition of passing a celebratory cup from hand to hand. It served as a large drinking vessel, creating a sense of shared celebration and festivity,” explained the artists.

“We wanted the trophy to be the symbol of a victory that an individual holds in their hands, yet it reflects the spirit of a community. In the case of Formula 1, this community includes the team, the fans, and the entire world revolving around the drivers.”

The artists said the stacked arrangement is intended to represent a victory that is never permanent, drawing a parallel with the competitive realities of F1.

"It is unstable, short-lived, and must be reclaimed. In fact, it is fragile."

The trophy will make its podium debut at Monza on Sunday, when the Italian GP winner lifts the latest addition to the race’s long-running collection of unusual trophies.
