Red Bull has announced the signing of Tom McCullough as its new head of racing, and says he will start work at the beginning of the 2027 Formula 1 season.

The position is currently occupied by long-time Max Verstappen race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase, who has already committed to a future move to McLaren as its chief racing officer.

McCullough's signing comes as Red Bull counters the prior managerial exodus on its side - with Adrian Newey, Jonathan Wheatley, Rob Marshall and strategy chief Will Courtenay among those who have moved on in recent years, in addition to Lambiase's aforementioned McLaren move and the expected switch of chief engineer Paul Monaghan to Cadillac.

"We're delighted to welcome Tom to the team at the beginning of 2027 and look forward to the wealth of experience and expertise he will bring to the role," Red Bull said in a brief statement.

A veteran F1 engineer, McCullough is primarily synonymous with Aston Martin's F1 squad and its direct predecessors Force India and Racing Point.

In one of the numerous F1 leadership reshuffles at the outfit, McCullough (pictured below with Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll) was shifted from the F1 project to an Aston Martin Performance Technologies role at the start of last year - but he will now return to grand prix racing.
