Aitken & Taylor Named For Rookie Test
Cadillac GTP pilots Jack Aitken and Ricky Taylor will drive for Hertz Team JOTA at this weekend’s FIA WEC Rookie Test in Bahrain.
With Connor Zilisch unable to participate in the test, the American marque has instead called upon two of its IMSA Sportscar Championship regulars, as part of its ‘One Cadillac’ mentality adopted this year.
Aitken has raced Action Express Racing’s Whelen-backed Cadillac V-Series.R for the past three seasons, with an initial Endurance race only role transitioning into a full-season drive in 2024. The 30-year-old won the last two races of this year’s IMSA Sportscar Championship alongside co-drivers Earl Bamber and Frederik Vesti.
Taylor, meanwhile, returned to the Cadillac fold at the beginning of this year, with his father’s Wayne Taylor Racing outfit. The American scored three podium finishes in 2025 alongside Filipe Albuquerque, and also made his top-class debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Both drivers have already been confirmed as returning to their full-season GTP drives in 2026.
Enabling drivers from its IMSA programme to test for Hertz Team JOTA is the latest development for ‘One Cadillac’, which has seen the three teams running the V-Series.R globally closely collaborate this year. This was best displayed at Le Mans, where JOTA, Action Express and Wayne Taylor Racing all had entries on the grid.
“I am looking forward to being a part of it and to get the experience of driving the JOTA Cadillac,” Taylor said. “My focus is to learn from the team and from GM about the Cadillac that races in WEC with JOTA and how they do things differently to us in the States with WTR.”
Aitken commented: “I think this is going to be another good opportunity for cross-pollination across the Cadillac Racing programs and I’m keen to again work with Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA after seeing them in action at Le Mans earlier this year.
“We’ve had some interaction through the program already, but it will be good to first-hand try their car and see how things are done in the WEC as well. It will be an exciting weekend for me and a nice end to the season.”
Full-season Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA pilots Bamber and Alex Lynn are also registered for the test, but both will drive a maximum of five laps.
The 2025 FIA WEC Rookie Test will be held on Sunday, 9th November at the Bahrain International Circuit, the day following the FIA WEC season finale.
